FACT CHECK: There is no Kijabe Dam and there never has been one

Reports being circulated by mainstream media about a dam in Kijabe are totally inaccurate and misleading. The tragedy in Old Kijabe Town is not linked to a dam. A blocked tunnel under the old railway lines created a lake which eventually broke after days of build-up. You can see the aftermath in the videos. The incident was not caused by a dam burst but rather by the blockage of the railway tunnel, leading to the buildup of water that eventually broke through.
