While many long spans around the world are called ‘sky bridges’, few can compete with the sheer spectacle of this treetop marvel in Malaysia.
Curving over mountain peaks and rainforest canopies for more than 120 metres, this pedestrian bridge is a cable-stayed steel span held aloft by a single, towering pylon.
The views are predictably spectacular: From this vantage point over 600 metres above sea level, a vast expanse of the Strait of Malacca is visible, as are many of the other islands here in the Langkawi archipelago.
Glass floor panels in the middle section of the bridge allow for views of a different kind – roughly 90 metres straight down into the forest below.
