Safaricom is introducing a new caveat on their Home Fiber internet packages. “FAIR USAGE POLICY“, means that Home Fibre is no longer unlimited.
This limits and throttle speeds as indicated in the table below. When you reach the Fair Usage limit for the package, the speeds will be throttled to 1Mbps for Bronze plans and 3Mbps for Silver, Gold, and Diamond plans for the remainder of the validity period of the subscription.
Here are the new prices and the data caps after which speeds will be slowed down significantly:
| Fibre Packages | speeds | Price (30 days) | Fair Usage Limit (After this amount of data, speeds will be slowed down) |
Speeds after Fair Usage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bronze | 8Mbps | Kshs 2,900 | 500GB | 1Mbps |
| Silver | 20Mbps | Kshs 3,999 | 1000GB | 3Mbps |
| Gold | 40Mbps | Kshs 5,999 | 1000GB | 3Mbps |
| Platinum | 100Mbps | Kshs 11,999 | 1000GB | 3Mbps |
Also, new customers will be required to pay KES 3000 for installation services, which include the router. Previously, the installation, cabling and equipment was free.
