Five individuals found themselves in a precarious situation on Wednesday when a four-story building collapsed in the Gateway area of Mathare North, Nairobi County. Reports indicate that the building had been partially demolished before it crumbled with people still inside.
The Kenya Red Cross Society sprang into action, rescuing two casualties during the search process. First aid was promptly administered before the victims were whisked away to receive specialized medical care.
A heroic multi-agency team, including members from the Kenya Red Cross, the National Police Service, and Nairobi Disaster Management, conducted a daring rescue operation. “Five people are believed to be trapped beneath the rubble. Our team is on the scene,” declared the Kenya Red Cross.
As the search continued, two more individuals were suspected to be trapped. The suspense of the rescue mission kept everyone on edge.
Sadly, this wasn’t the first time such a tragedy had struck the area. Just last month, a similar incident claimed the lives of several individuals who were scavenging for scrap metal in a demolished building.
In the midst of chaos, videos captured the tense moments as responders worked tirelessly to save lives. After an intense hour of searching, four lucky souls were pulled from the wreckage and rushed to safety.
The Kenya Red Cross assured the public that efforts to reach any remaining trapped individuals were ongoing. The spirit of unity and determination in the face of adversity shone brightly during this challenging time.
