Bungoma demolitions: buildings sitting on Kenya Railway land demolished including a hospital and supermarket

Demolitions like those witnessed in Nakuru, Eldoret and Kitale are currently going in in Bungoma. Business owners suffered loses as buildings and other structures were brought down to clear the way for the railway line rehabilitation.

Kenya Railway Corporation is reclaiming all it’s land for the purpose of railroad building. Occupiers of these lands have received notices to vacate before the bulldozers come calling. Business owners who developed their premises on these spaces claim that they hand legally leased the land and that the lease had not expired. However the Kenya Railway Corporation top management maintains that all leases stand revoked.
