Violent gangs terrorising residents of Kinoo, 87, Kikuyu, Cooperation, Uthiru, Ndumboini, Lower Kabete, N market, Thiong’o road, Gitaru

Are you a resident of these areas: Kinoo, 87, Kikuyu, Cooperation, Uthiru, Ndumboini, Lower Kabete, N market, Thiong’o road, Gitaru?

There has been cases of a sustained wave of crime in these areas. The gang is usually of about 3 or 4 young men. Their Modus Operandi(MO) is always the same;

MO 1: They waylay innocent people walking home from work. Women and those who normally carry their laptops home are an easy target. At gunpoint, they will take everything that seems valuable from the victim. If the victims cooperates, no harm will be done on them. If the victim tries to resist, the gang becomes extremely brutal.

MO 2: They follow or wait upon those driving home. When you reach your gate, they will quickly take control especially if you alight to open the gate. At gunpoint, the gang can do the following: a) take money and valuable items and leave b) force you back to the car mostly in the boot and drive around using your car for similar robberies c) depending on the setting of your compound, they will force you into your house.Once in the house, they will gather everyone in one room and force them to lay down still. They will ransack the whole house for money and valuables. If people in the house cooperates, no harm is done on them but if they try to resist, it becomes really nasty.

MO 3: They just roam in the compound at night. Here, they wait for anyone who will open their door for any particular reason. A perfect reason maybe you want to pick clothes from the lines. At this point, they will force you back to the house and as 2nd above, they will gather everyone in one room ransacking the house for valuables and money.

Some of these attacks are happening as early as 6:30PM.
